Automotive Support Technician - IMI 4

About the role

This position supports a growing automotive manufacturer that develops conventional, hybrid and electric vehicles. You will act as the primary technical liaison for dealers across the UK, ensuring rapid resolution of complex vehicle issues and contributing to continuous improvement of support processes.

Key responsibilities

• Own reported technical issues, manage cases through a technical support system and drive them to resolution.
• Provide on‑site technical assistance to the dealer network and produce detailed visit reports.
• Prioritise and handle multiple complex cases simultaneously, escalating unresolved matters to engineering teams.
• Assist Quality and Customer Experience teams with investigations, product concerns and complaint analysis.
• Review global technical documentation for UK suitability and identify translation needs.
• Develop and deliver technical presentations, seminars and workshops for dealer technicians.
• Create and maintain service bulletins, troubleshooting guides and training materials.
• Support Warranty teams by verifying failures and recommending corrective actions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in automotive technical support.
• IMI Level 4 qualification.
• Full, clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
• Experience with conventional, hybrid or electric vehicles.

Required skills

• Diagnostic equipment operation.
• Engineering data‑logging tools.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Interpreting electrical schematics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
