AV Technical Design Consultant / Estimator – MDUs

About the role

We are seeking an AV Technical Design Consultant / Estimator to lead design and costing for multi‑dwelling unit (MDU) projects ranging from 50 to 500 apartments. The role is office‑based in London and requires a commercially‑savvy designer comfortable translating briefs into complete AV design packages.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret design briefs from M&E contractors, technical design consultancies and large residential developers.
• Produce full AV design documentation, including AutoCAD drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure design feasibility and budget compliance.
• Maintain accurate project costings and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging AV and smart‑home technologies relevant to MDU environments.

Required profile

• Minimum five years’ experience designing AV solutions for MDUs (50‑500 apartments).
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to produce detailed cost estimates.
• Legally entitled to work in the UK and based in the UK.

Required skills

• AutoCAD – high‑level proficiency for technical AV drawings.
• Crestron, Lutron, Control4, Rako – experience with smart‑home automation platforms.
• Cisco, Draytek, Ruckus – knowledge of IT home networking equipment.
• Home audio, home cinema, speaker and projection deployment.
