AVP Corporate Research – Consumer & Retail Sectors

About the role

The role supports the Corporate Research function of a leading international bank, focusing on Consumer and Retail sectors across EMEA. You will combine thematic research, transaction support and credit monitoring to influence origination and risk decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Produce industry and thematic research to inform business strategy and client engagement.
• Analyse macro‑economic and sector trends and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
• Support transactions through risk/return analysis and credit‑focused assessments.
• Identify new business opportunities, including potential clients and financing activity.
• Prepare short‑form “flash” updates and longer‑term thematic reports.
• Monitor sector developments and contribute to credit reviews and portfolio risk oversight.
• Build financial and statistical models to support analysis and decision‑making.
• Engage with front‑office, credit and international teams and support senior analysts in meetings with corporates and advisors.
• Contribute to the adoption of new tools and data sources such as AI and alternative data.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of experience in research, credit analysis, consulting or a related field.
• Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, credit frameworks and corporate finance.
• Ability to analyse macro and industry trends and link them to business implications.
• Experience producing written research or market commentary.
• Awareness of consumer/retail sector dynamics.
• Proactive mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
