About the role
The UK CAA B1.3 Licensed Aircraft Engineer will be based at RAF Shawbury, Shropshire, reporting to the Base Maintenance Manager. The role supports the Military Flying Training System (MFTS) operation by delivering serviceable aircraft for the daily flying programme.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and company procedures.
- Carry out maintenance inspections and repairs as directed by supervisors.
- Perform high‑standard maintenance on airframe, power‑plant, mechanical, electrical and avionics systems.
- Supervise maintenance fitters and certify their work.
- Assist with hangar operations, aircraft movement and general housekeeping.
Required profile
- Working knowledge of UK CAA regulations (Part 145, Part CAMO, UK ANOT).
- Thorough knowledge of engine and air‑frame systems.
- Experience in an aviation engineering environment.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication, organisational and leadership abilities.
- Flexibility to meet company and customer requirements.
Required skills
- Valid UK CAA Part 66 B1.3 licence.
- Type‑rating on Airbus EC135 T3H (training provided).
- Type‑rating on Airbus BK117 D2 (training provided).
- Knowledge of engine and airframe systems.
