Back-End Developer – Remote (UK)

About the role

We are looking for a Back‑End Developer to join Sessions, a fast‑growing UK food‑tech company. You will work remotely and travel to London once a month, collaborating with senior engineers to build and maintain the server‑side components of our Sessions Serve platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable, secure server‑side logic and APIs for Sessions Serve and related products.
• Build efficient backend systems using Node.js, AWS Serverless services and DynamoDB.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define requirements, timelines and deliverables.
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve issues in the codebase, ensuring high reliability.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices.

Required profile

• Degree from a top‑tier university.
• 3+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong expertise in JavaScript and Node.js (v18+).
• Hands‑on experience with AWS, Serverless Framework and Lambda functions.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted coding tools such as Claude.
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, particularly DynamoDB and ElasticSearch.
• Proven work with REST APIs and frameworks like Express.
