Back End Engineer – 6 month contract

About the role

We are seeking a Back End Engineer to join a global sports manufacturing organisation on a 6‑month contract. You will help design, build and scale backend services that support the international eCommerce platform, working in a hybrid model with three days onsite in London.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services for multi‑language and region‑specific functionality.
• Implement currency handling, pricing logic and transaction flows across multiple markets.
• Integrate new platform capabilities into the existing live ecosystem.
• Contribute to a shared transaction layer used across several products and services.
• Collaborate with front‑end and mobile engineers to deliver consistent global user experiences.
• Improve system performance, scalability and reliability in a live production environment.
• Participate in API and platform design decisions within an evolving architecture.

Required profile

• 4+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong background in API and service development.
• Proven experience with transaction systems, payments or eCommerce platforms.
• Ability to work effectively in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
