Backend Interface Developer

About the role

This permanent position offers an exciting opportunity for an HL7 Interface Developer to join a leading business focused on clinical coding for the NHS. You will work on both new and existing projects, developing, maintaining and enhancing software products with a strong emphasis on HL7 and related interface technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Extend and adapt HL7 interfaces to support business and product growth.
• Develop non‑HL7 data transport interfaces as required.
• Assist in the design and development of software units and applications according to specifications.
• Produce clear technical documentation for developed components.
• Write efficient, well‑structured code that adheres to current standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the development process.

Required profile

• University degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of HL7 and FHIR message exchange protocols.
• Good knowledge of NHS data standards.
• At least 2 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience working in an agile development environment is desirable.

Required skills

• .NET framework
• C# and C++ programming languages
• HL7 and FHIR protocols
• Version control systems (SVN, GIT)
• MS SQL Server, stored procedures and query optimisation
• Unit testing frameworks such as MSTest, NUnit, NSubstitute
