Band 7 Employee Relations Manager – NHS HR Team

About the role

The Band 7 Employee Relations Manager will join a busy NHS HR and Organisational Development team, providing expert advice and leading complex employee relations cases. Working closely with the Head of Employee Relations, you will help shape a positive workplace culture across the Trust.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complex disciplinary, grievance, dignity at work and capability cases from initiation to resolution.
• Provide HR and employment law advice to managers and senior stakeholders.
• Lead investigations, present cases at formal hearings and ensure robust outcomes.
• Develop and deliver training for managers on employee relations policies and best practice.
• Produce and analyse KPI reports to identify trends and drive service improvement.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with trade unions and senior leadership.
• Support and develop the Employee Relations team, overseeing Senior ER Advisors.
• Deputise for the Head of Employee Relations as required.

Required profile

• Degree‑level education.
• CIPD qualification with current registration.
• Extensive employee relations experience within the NHS or a similarly large, complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and experience handling highly complex investigations.
• Previous leadership or line‑management experience.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Experience working in a unionised environment.
