About the role
We are looking for a qualified chef to join our Newport care home kitchen on a casual, part‑time basis. You will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver nutritious, seasonal meals for our residents while enjoying a balanced work‑life schedule.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in creating balanced, flavourful menus tailored to residents' needs.
- Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring smooth operations.
- Prepare fresh, high‑quality dishes using seasonal produce.
- Maintain a warm, welcoming environment for residents and staff.
- Work within budget, conduct regular audits, and control stock levels.
- Lead, motivate, and support the kitchen team.
Required profile
- Personable, warm approach with genuine interest in residents' wellbeing.
- City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ (or equivalent) culinary qualification.
- Experience in leading and inspiring a kitchen team.
- Good understanding of nutrition and fresh seasonal food.
- Solid knowledge of HACCP standards.
