Bank Chef – Residential Care Kitchen

About the role

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a qualified chef to lead the kitchen in its Alphington residential care facility. This part‑time, flexible role allows you to work with fresh, seasonal produce while delivering hotel‑standard meals tailored to the nutritional needs of residents.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in designing balanced, nutritious menus that reflect seasonal ingredients.
• Prepare and cook high‑quality dishes, ensuring compliance with HACCP standards.
• Manage kitchen operations in the Head Chef’s absence, including stock control and budgeting.
• Conduct regular audits and maintain accurate records of food safety and inventory.
• Support and motivate the kitchen team to create a warm, efficient environment.

Required profile

• City & Guilds, NVQ, SVQ or equivalent culinary qualification.
• Demonstrated experience working with fresh, seasonal food and a solid understanding of nutrition.
• Personable, warm approach with a genuine interest in residents’ wellbeing.
• Ability to work collaboratively and inspire a team.
