About the role

This part‑time, bank position supports the kitchen team at a Barchester care home, providing flexible cover for planned or unexpected absences. You will help deliver nutritious, high‑quality meals that enhance residents' wellbeing and overall hospitality experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and cooking meals according to dietary requirements and care home standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen areas and equipment.
• Support the service of meals to residents, ensuring a pleasant dining environment.
• Help with stock control, receiving deliveries and storing food safely.
• Cover shifts on short notice, adapting to varying schedules.

Required profile

• Reliable, considerate and caring attitude towards residents and colleagues.
• Flexibility to work varied days and hours as needed.
• Ability to follow food safety and hygiene procedures.
• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or care setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
