Bank Shift Leader – Care Home (Copford)

About the role

Join Friends of the Elderly (FotE) as a Bank Shift Leader at New Copford Place, a residential care home on the outskirts of Colchester. You will lead a team delivering person‑centred care to older residents, ensuring safety, dignity and a high quality of life across 24‑hour, 7‑day operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support care staff during 12‑hour shifts, including evenings, nights and weekends.
• Ensure accurate record‑keeping, medication ordering, administration and dispensing.
• Promote a safe, clean environment and follow infection‑control protocols.
• Conduct staff supervisions, appraisals and encourage professional development.
• Identify and report safeguarding concerns promptly.

Required profile

• Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or working towards it).
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to problem‑solve, adapt to changing situations and maintain accurate handovers.
• Willingness to work flexible, unsociable hours as required.

Required skills

• Basic digital literacy for record‑keeping and medication systems.
