Base Metals Trading Associate

About the role

The Base Metals Trading team in London is looking for a motivated associate to support trading across financial and physical markets. You will work alongside senior traders, analysing fundamentals, price trends and volatility while helping to execute options, futures and OTC contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior traders in the execution of base metals trades across exchanges and physical markets.
• Monitor positions, risk and P&L throughout the trade lifecycle.
• Analyse market fundamentals, supply‑chain flows and client activity to identify trading opportunities.
• Contribute to the development of the physical metals business by bridging physical and derivatives trading.
• Engage with clients, support business development and help originate new opportunities.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of experience in base metals, commodities trading or a closely related role.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in physical business development and supply‑chain analysis.
• Strong understanding of market mechanics, pricing and liquidity drivers in both exchange‑traded and physical markets.
• Commercially minded with a proactive attitude towards client interaction.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and modelling.
• Experience using Bloomberg for market data and pricing.
