Before & After School Club Playworker

About the role

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Playworker to join a welcoming primary school in the BL2 area of Bolton. You will provide high‑quality wrap‑around care before and after the school day, creating a safe, fun and nurturing environment for primary‑aged children.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise children before and after school in a safe, welcoming setting.
• Plan and deliver age‑appropriate activities such as arts and crafts, games, outdoor play and themed sessions.
• Encourage positive behaviour and support children’s social and emotional development.
• Prepare and serve light snacks while following food‑hygiene procedures.
• Support children with differing needs to ensure an inclusive environment.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour policies.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents and school staff.
• Assist with setting up and tidying equipment after each session.

Required profile

• Experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare or similar setting.
• Friendly, patient and approachable manner.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children and families.
• Flexible and reliable approach to work.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
