Behaviour Assistant – SEN School (Reading)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Assistant to join a supportive SEN school in Reading. You will work closely with pupils who have additional needs, helping them develop positive behaviour and emotional regulation skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with challenging behaviour.
• Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, structured learning environment.
• Support pupils in managing emotions and developing coping strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, and pastoral staff to deliver consistent support.

Required profile

• Patience, resilience and a genuine passion for supporting young people with behavioural and emotional challenges.
• Ability to work effectively with pupils who have ASD, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required; focus is on behavioural support and student interaction.
