Behaviour Assistant – Support Students in Alternative Provision

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Behaviour Assistant to work within Alternative Provision schools across Westminster, Kensington and Fulham. You will help young people overcome barriers to education, supporting their social, emotional and mental health needs while fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils in the classroom and during interventions.
• Build positive relationships that encourage engagement, confidence and wellbeing.
• Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning programmes and managing behaviour using positive strategies.
• Support students with SEMH, SEND, ASD, ADHD or other additional needs as required.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive atmosphere for all learners.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, care, sports coaching or similar settings.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach with strong communication skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
• Ability to remain professional in challenging situations.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) and right to work in the UK.
