Behaviour Mentor – Alternative Provision

About the role

The school in Hackney is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support approximately 100 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role starts in September 2026 and is based a short walk from Old Street Station, with travel by bus or train recommended.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and group support to students displaying challenging behaviours.
• Implement behaviour management strategies aligned with SEMH best practices.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed.

Required profile

• Positive, can‑do attitude with a genuine desire to help students succeed.
• Experience in psychology, SEMH, mental health, PRU or alternative provision settings.
• Ability to work full‑time, five days a week, from 08:30 to 15:00.

Required skills

• Knowledge of behaviour management techniques for SEMH students.
• Understanding of mental health challenges in educational contexts.
