Behaviour Mentor – Primary School (KS1/KS2) – Islington

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming primary school in Islington. The role starts in September and provides full‑time, long‑term support for KS1 and KS2 pupils with behavioural, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions to help pupils manage behaviour and emotions.
• Collaborate with teachers and the SEN team to design and implement individual support plans.
• Promote positive behaviour through consistent strategies and relationship‑building.
• Monitor progress and adjust approaches based on pupil response and data.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive classroom environment that supports academic and social development.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children displaying challenging behaviour.
• Understanding of SEMH, ASD, SLCN and other additional learning needs.
• Calm, patient, resilient and proactive attitude.
• Ability to work effectively with teachers, parents and external agencies.
• Reliable transport to commute to Islington.

Required skills

• Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
• Familiarity with SEN frameworks and individual education plans.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
