Behaviour Mentor – Primary School Support

About the role

We are seeking a motivated graduate or aspiring psychologist to join a welcoming primary school in Maidenhead as a Behaviour Mentor. The role starts in September and offers hands‑on experience supporting pupils with behaviour, emotional regulation and social development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils who need additional behavioural guidance.
• Help children recognise, understand and regulate their emotions.
• Apply positive behaviour management strategies and de‑escalation techniques.
• Assist teachers in creating a calm, positive and engaging classroom environment.
• Build constructive relationships with pupils, staff and families to ensure consistent support.
• Collaborate with the SEN team to implement tailored behaviour support plans.

Required profile

• Graduate or final‑year student in psychology, education, counselling or a related field.
• Patient, resilient nature with a genuine passion for helping children.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Interest in developing a career in educational psychology, teaching or child development.

Required skills

• Ability to use positive behaviour management strategies.
• Proficiency in de‑escalation techniques.
• Effective interpersonal and relationship‑building skills.
