Behaviour Mentor – Secondary School (Lancaster)

About the role

We are looking for a resilient, empathetic professional to join a progressive secondary school in Lancaster as a Behaviour Mentor. Working within the school's pastoral and inclusion support team, you will help pupils overcome social, emotional and behavioural barriers and re‑engage with their education.

Key responsibilities

• Providing 1‑to‑1 and small‑group mentoring to secondary pupils who struggle in mainstream classrooms.
• Using positive behaviour management and de‑escalation techniques within dedicated intervention spaces.
• Building trusting relationships to support emotional regulation, attendance and academic pressures.
• Collaborating with teaching staff to implement behaviour support plans and monitor progress.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting secondary‑aged young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH or in a school/ youth‑mentoring setting.
• High emotional resilience, patience and excellent communication skills.
• Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one through PAYE.
