Behaviour Mentor – SEMH School (Full‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join the pastoral team of a specialist SEMH school in Tower Hamlets, East London. The role starts in September on a full‑time, long‑term temporary basis and involves supporting vulnerable pupils to thrive academically and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one mentoring and targeted behaviour support to students.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and small groups.
• Assist students in regulating emotions and staying engaged in learning.
• Apply restorative and trauma‑informed approaches in daily interactions.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and pastoral staff to remove barriers to learning.
• Record progress, safeguarding concerns and contribute to pupil reports.
• Promote a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience in SEMH, PRU, alternative provision, youth work or residential care.
• Strong behaviour management and calm under pressure.
• Confident communicator with resilience and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
• Willingness to hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
