Behaviour Mentor – SEN School (East London)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join our specialist SEN school in South East London. You will support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH and other learning difficulties, helping them develop positive behaviours and emotional regulation both in and out of the classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group behaviour support for students with SEN needs.
• Build trusting relationships to encourage engagement and participation.
• Use restorative and trauma‑informed approaches to manage challenging behaviours.
• Assist teachers with implementing Behaviour Support Plans and Individual Education Plans.
• Support learners in developing social skills, resilience and independence.
• Monitor, record and report on progress and behavioural outcomes.
• Support pupils during transitions, break times, trips and other school activities.
• Collaborate with families, safeguarding teams, therapists and external agencies.

Required profile

• Resilient, compassionate and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience working with children who have autism, ADHD, SEMH or similar needs.
• Strong communication skills for liaising with staff, families and external professionals.
• Enhanced DBS clearance is mandatory.

Required skills

• Knowledge of restorative and trauma‑informed behaviour management techniques.
• Familiarity with Behaviour Support Plans and Individual Education Plans.
