Behaviour Mentor – Specialist SEMH School (Blackpool)

About the role

We are looking for a resilient and empathetic Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) school in Blackpool. The role supports pupils from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4, helping them overcome emotional and behavioural barriers and re‑engage with their education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group mentoring tailored to the developmental stages of children and teenagers with SEMH needs.
• Apply positive behaviour management and de‑escalation techniques to maintain a safe, calm environment.
• Build trusting, professional relationships to guide pupils through emotional regulation and personal growth.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral leads, and external agencies to track progress and implement behaviour support plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or working within a special school or alternative provision setting.
• High emotional resilience, patience and exceptional de‑escalation skills.
• Willingness to hold a valid Enhanced DBS check (or to obtain one through PAYE).
