Behaviour Mentor – Support Pupils in SEND Schools (Wirral)

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking enthusiastic Behaviour Mentors to join specialist SEND schools and alternative provision settings across the Wirral from September 2026. You will work directly with pupils who experience challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties, or complex additional needs, helping them engage positively with education.

Key responsibilities

• Build trusting, supportive relationships with individual pupils and small groups.
• Deliver 1:1 and group interventions aimed at improving behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Promote positive engagement and reduce barriers to learning.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, pastoral staff and SEND professionals.
• Implement and reinforce strategies that support mental health, autism, ADHD, trauma, attachment and other identified needs.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people in youth work, residential care, support work, SEND education, coaching or mentoring.
• Strong behaviour management and communication abilities.
• Calm, patient, resilient approach with a genuine passion for vulnerable youth.
