About the role
We are looking for a recent graduate in Criminology or Psychology to join a specialist school in Newbury as a Behaviour Support Assistant. The role starts in September and offers the chance to work directly with students aged 11‑18 who experience behavioural and emotional difficulties.
Key responsibilities
- Support students in managing challenging behaviours and promote positive decision‑making.
- Implement behaviour‑management strategies to create a calm, safe learning environment.
- Provide emotional support, helping students develop self‑regulation and coping skills.
- Foster healthy relationships between pupils, staff and peers.
- Assist in nurturing students’ social and emotional development.
Required profile
- Degree in Criminology, Psychology or a related discipline.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Calm and resilient under pressure.
- Passion for working with young people facing behavioural and mental‑health challenges.
- Experience with children or adults with special needs is desirable but not essential.
Required skills
What we offer
- Competitive daily rate of £90‑£100.
- Full‑time hours: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
- On‑site work in a supportive educational environment.
