Behaviour Support Assistant – Secondary School

About the role

The school is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join the team from September 2026. You will work closely with pupils who need additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them engage positively with learning and achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group behaviour support to students.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage participation.
• Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs inside and outside the classroom.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams and SEN professionals to implement support strategies.
• Assist in managing challenging behaviour in line with school policies.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching or a similar setting.
• Strong behaviour management and communication abilities.
• Calm, resilient and proactive approach.
• Ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students.
• Genuine passion for supporting young people.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
