Behaviour Support Enabler for Children with Disabilities

About the role

Torbay Council is looking for enthusiastic Behaviour 1‑1 Enablers to support children and young people with physical or learning disabilities. In this role you will help them participate in play, social and community activities, fostering confidence and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Work one‑to‑one or in small groups providing practical support, including personal care and assistance with outings.
• Enable participation in play, social and community settings such as Playschemes and Saturday clubs.
• Create safe, inclusive and positive environments for children and young people.
• Collaborate with families, professionals and other staff to achieve the best outcomes for each child.

Required profile

• Passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliability, flexibility and a positive, team‑focused attitude.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare.

Required skills

• Direct experience working with children and young people with emotional, learning or behavioural disabilities (desirable but not essential).
• Ability to follow direction from professionals and families.
• Flexible approach to achieving outcomes for each child.
• Effective time‑management and ability to work independently.
