Behaviour Support Mentor – Primary School (Bridgwater)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Mentor to provide one‑to‑one support for a primary‑aged pupil with special educational needs and challenging behaviour in a mainstream primary school in Bridgwater. The role runs Monday‑Friday, 08:30‑15:30 during term time and offers competitive hourly pay.

Key responsibilities

• Support the pupil to stay regulated, engaged and ready to learn throughout the school day.
• Implement individualized behaviour plans and trauma‑informed strategies.
• Promote emotional development using positive reinforcement techniques.
• Collaborate closely with class teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.
• Create a safe, inclusive environment that encourages progress and participation.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have behavioural needs, SEN, SEMH or similar.
• Calm, nurturing and patient approach with strong de‑escalation skills.
• Ability to build rapport quickly while maintaining clear boundaries.
• Genuine passion for helping children thrive.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain) and right to work in the UK.
