Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant – Secondary (Waltham Forest)

About the role

We are seeking a confident and resilient Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work with secondary‑aged students in Waltham Forest. You will help young people facing behavioural, emotional or social challenges stay engaged in education and achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Support students both in lessons and during break times.
• Build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult.
• Implement and monitor behaviour support strategies.
• Assist with de‑escalation and conflict resolution.
• Track attendance, engagement and wellbeing.
• Facilitate reintegration of students into mainstream learning.

Required profile

• Experience working with secondary‑aged students.
• Strong behaviour management and communication abilities.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
• Background in education, youth work, mentoring or pastoral support.
