Behaviour & Youth Support Assistant

About the role
Aspire People Limited is partnering with primary and specialist SEND schools in Stockport to recruit enthusiastic Behaviour & Youth Support Assistants. You will work directly with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism, or behavioural challenges, providing one‑to‑one or small‑group support to help them thrive academically and socially.
Key responsibilities
- Build positive, professional relationships with children and young people.
- Support pupils in developing emotional regulation and coping strategies.
- Assist teachers in creating inclusive classroom environments.
- Deliver tailored interventions for pupils with SEMH, autism, or behavioural difficulties.
- Monitor progress and report observations to senior staff.
Required profile
- Experience as a Sports Coach, Youth Worker, Residential Support Worker, Behaviour Mentor, or similar role.
- Ability to remain calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.
- Strong communication and behaviour management abilities.
- Passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils.
- Commitment to a rewarding career within education.
