Behavioural Mentor – Part‑time (£25‑£30/hr)

About the role

This part‑time position supports young people in Havering to re‑engage with learning, build emotional resilience and develop essential life skills within a safe, structured environment. The role starts as soon as possible and offers a flexible schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver bespoke intervention sessions that promote emotional wellbeing and re‑engagement with learning.
• Build consistent, trusting relationships with each young person.
• Implement self‑regulation strategies and encourage positive behaviour and confidence.
• Collaborate with families and other professionals to ensure cohesive support.
• Track and report progress in emotional development and engagement.

Required profile

• Experience working with SEMH or similar behavioural/emotional needs.
• Ability to quickly build rapport and create a safe learning space.
• Calm, nurturing and patient approach to managing behaviour and emotional dysregulation.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
• Desirable experience in youth work or PRU settings, training in de‑escalation, and knowledge of restorative or trauma‑informed practice.
