Bioinformatician

About the role

The Department of Paediatrics at the University of Oxford is seeking a Bioinformatician to join the Sanders Research Group and the MRC Centre of Research Excellence in Therapeutic Genomics. This three‑year fixed‑term position will support cutting‑edge genomic research aimed at rare neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism, and the development of genome‑targeted therapies.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse, manage and interpret large‑scale genomic datasets generated across multiple projects.
• Develop, maintain and document robust, reproducible bioinformatics pipelines.
• Collaborate with researchers to define analytical strategies and provide statistical input.
• Identify new project opportunities that align with the programme’s therapeutic goals.
• Work closely with Professor Stephan Sanders, data managers, developers and international partners at UCSF.

Required profile

• Experience with large‑scale genomic data analysis and interpretation.
• Ability to design and implement reproducible bioinformatics workflows.
• Strong collaborative skills to work across multidisciplinary teams.
