Biology Lecturer – Part‑Time/Full‑Time (Temporary)

About the role

Reed FE is seeking qualified Biology Lecturers to deliver high‑quality education to learners aged 16‑19 across FE colleges, prisons and training providers in South‑East England. The position can be undertaken on a part‑time or full‑time basis and is offered on a temporary (fixed‑term) contract.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver biology lessons in line with curriculum standards.
• Assess student progress, provide feedback and maintain accurate records.
• Manage classroom behaviour and create an inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with fellow staff to develop interdisciplinary projects and support apprenticeships.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching practice through peer review and professional development.

Required profile

• Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Biology (or related scientific discipline).
• Teaching qualification such as AET, PTLLS, PGCE or Certificate in Education.
• Assessors’ qualification (e.g., A1, D33/D34, CAVA, TAQA, IQA) is desirable.
• Experience working with 16‑19‑year‑olds in an educational or apprenticeship setting.
• Level 2 or equivalent in English and Maths.
• Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of biology content and laboratory safety.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
