Biomedical Scientist – Clinical Chemistry (Band 5/6)

About the role

Acorn by Synergie is seeking HCPC‑registered Biomedical Scientists to join a specialist team delivering a major laboratory transformation in an NHS laboratory in Milton Keynes. The successful candidate will work within the Clinical Chemistry department to support the rollout of new analytical platforms, ensuring they are fully validated and operational before go‑live.

Key responsibilities

• Support the installation, validation and verification of new laboratory analysers and analytical platforms.
• Analyse validation data to confirm equipment performance meets required standards.
• Troubleshoot technical issues during implementation and assist in resolution.
• Collaborate with Biomedical Scientists, laboratory staff and project teams to ensure a smooth transition.
• Maintain compliance with laboratory quality management systems, policies and SOPs.
• Contribute to quality‑assurance activities and uphold UKAS accreditation requirements.
• Document validation results and maintain accurate records throughout the project.

Required profile

• HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist (mandatory).
• Proven experience in an NHS or clinical laboratory, preferably within Clinical Chemistry.
• Demonstrated experience supporting analyser installation, validation and verification projects.
• Strong understanding of laboratory quality systems and UKAS accreditation.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Additional experience in Haematology or Blood Transfusion is advantageous.
