Book Keeper

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Book Keeper to join a small but growing practice in Alton. You will work closely with the team manager and partner, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients across accounting, tax and audit services. The role offers a blend of hands‑on bookkeeping and exposure to tax and audit assignments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accounts and draft financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Assist with management accounts, bookkeeping and VAT returns.
• Prepare corporation tax computations and support personal tax returns for directors and individuals.
• Participate in statutory audits for small and medium‑sized businesses, testing controls and preparing audit working papers.
• Liaise directly with clients to gather information, resolve queries and maintain strong relationships.

Required profile

• Studying towards ACA, ACCA or AAT (part‑qualified or finalist).
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting and tax principles.
• Good IT aptitude and ability to work under supervision of senior staff.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software.
