Bookkeeper – Accountancy Practice

About the role

A well‑established accountancy practice in Folkestone is looking for a proactive Bookkeeper to join its growing team. You will manage bookkeeping, prepare management accounts and VAT returns for a diverse client base across Kent and the South East.

Key responsibilities

• Process payments, invoices, income and receipts and record them in accounting software.
• Prepare financial statements, including profit & loss, balance sheet and cash‑flow reports.
• Pay vendor invoices, reconcile bank accounts and track balances.
• Complete and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
• Verify the accuracy of client accounts and flag any discrepancies.
• Develop monthly management accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Use cloud accounting platforms such as Xero, QuickBooks and Sage (training provided if required).

Required profile

• AAT studying, qualified, or qualified by experience.
• 3‑5+ years of bookkeeping experience in a client‑facing role (practice, bureau or self‑employed).
• Experience handling a portfolio of SME clients across various sectors.
