Bookkeeper – SME Finance Role in Birmingham

About the role

This is a hands‑on Bookkeeper position within a long‑established, family‑owned SME located in Edgbaston Village, Birmingham. You will own the day‑to‑day finance function and become a trusted member of a close‑knit team that values stability and long‑term careers.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain day‑to‑day bookkeeping, including purchase and sales ledgers.
• Perform bank reconciliations and cash‑flow monitoring.
• Prepare VAT returns and manage credit control.
• Provide month‑end support and ensure accurate financial records.
• Work extensively with Xero accounting software.

Required profile

• Solid bookkeeping experience in an SME environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Xero.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with the team.
• Proactive, trustworthy, and committed to a long‑term role.
