Bookkeeper – VAT & Management Accounts

About the role

Our client, a forward‑thinking Chartered Accountants firm, is looking for a diligent Bookkeeper to join their expanding team in Chichester. You will handle bookkeeping, VAT, management accounts and client data, ensuring deadlines are met.

Key responsibilities

• Day‑to‑day bookkeeping for multiple clients, including data input and bank reconciliations.
• Preparation, review and submission of VAT returns (including margin and other schemes) and monthly CIS returns.
• Maintenance of bank feeds and registration for government gateways.
• Preparation of management accounts and adherence to internal workflows and deadlines.
• Undertake any additional duties as required by management.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of UK bookkeeping experience in practice.
• Professional qualification such as AAT Level 4 or working towards it.
• Good knowledge of Xero, Sage, Dext and Hubdocs (advantageous).
• Understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping and various VAT schemes, including margin schemes and CIS.
• Access to a vehicle for occasional visits to other offices or client sites.
