About the role
We are looking for a dedicated British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join a well‑regarded primary school in Luton. This full‑time position supports pupils with hearing impairments across Early Years, KS1 and KS2, helping them access the curriculum in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils with hearing impairments to engage with learning and achieve their potential.
- Communicate effectively using British Sign Language.
- Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering age‑appropriate lessons.
- Provide feedback on pupil progress and identify areas for development.
- Promote a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere.
- Support pupils inside and outside the classroom as required.
Required profile
- Minimum Level 1 qualification in British Sign Language (higher levels preferred).
- Passion for primary education and supporting young learners.
- Strong communication skills in both BSL and spoken/written English.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Confidence building relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
