Building Regulations Principal Designer (Architectural)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced architect to act as the Building Regulations Principal Designer, providing specialist advice and compliance direction for both HRB and non‑HRB projects. You will work client‑side, collaborating with consultants and design teams to ensure all schemes meet current Building Regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Principal Designer duties on Non‑HRB and HRB projects, handling Gateway 2 and 3 applications.
• Liaise with Building Standards Register (BSR) and provide compliance guidance to clients and design teams.
• Review designs, details and specifications against the latest Building Regulations.
• Offer direct advice to clients, acting as the go‑to expert for regulatory queries.

Required profile

• Proven experience with HRB schemes since the introduction of the BSA, including hands‑on involvement in Gateway 2 submissions.
• Architectural background with a solid understanding of Building Regulations.
• Consultancy mindset: client‑facing, organised and comfortable delivering clear, decisive answers.
