Building Safety Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Building Safety Manager to lead statutory building safety responsibilities across a portfolio of Higher‑Risk Residential Buildings in Barking. The role will act as the Accountable Person, ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and keeping residents safe and informed.

Key responsibilities

• Register Higher‑Risk Buildings and maintain Safety Case Reports.
• Manage a portfolio of 8‑10 residential buildings, ensuring ongoing compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022.
• Lead technical risk management covering fire safety, structural integrity and associated hazards.
• Develop and implement Building Safety Management Strategies, policies and processes.
• Maintain the “Golden Thread” of accurate digital building records.
• Oversee fire risk assessments, structural risk assessments and emergency response plans.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation such as the Fire Safety Act 2021, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, CDM Regulations 2015 and the Housing Act 2004.
• Provide expert advice to senior leadership and engage with residents on safety matters.
• Manage external consultants, contractors and duty‑holders, monitoring performance and reporting through governance frameworks.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated legislation.
• Proven experience managing fire and structural safety in higher‑risk residential buildings.
• Ability to assess, control and communicate building safety risks effectively.
• Experience delivering resident engagement strategies and handling safety‑related complaints.
• Demonstrated competence in overseeing external consultants and contractors.

What we offer

• PAYE or Umbrella contract at £28.60‑£37.43 per hour.
• Initial three‑month assignment with potential extension.
