Building Safety Surveyor – Residential Compliance

About the role
Raven Housing Trust is seeking a Building Safety Surveyor to lead compliance and maintenance programmes across its residential portfolio. You will work within a forward‑thinking team to ensure homes are safe, healthy and meet all regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
- Lead delivery of maintenance and compliance programmes for residential buildings, covering fire, gas, electrical, water, asbestos and other safety regulations.
- Manage contractors and suppliers, ensuring works are completed on time, within budget and to a high quality standard.
- Conduct inspections, audits and quality checks, identify risks and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Provide expert advice on building safety, produce detailed reports and support senior stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate compliance records, liaise with regulatory bodies and drive continuous improvement of health & safety practices.
- Monitor budgets and contracts, ensuring financial and operational targets are met.
Required profile
- Relevant qualification such as RICS or equivalent, or strong hands‑on experience in building surveying, construction or maintenance.
- Solid understanding of health & safety legislation and building safety regulations (e.g., Fire Safety Act, Building Safety Act).
- Proven experience managing building compliance, contracts and external contractors within a housing environment.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of fire safety systems, building regulations and maintenance best practices.
- Experience managing budgets and contracts, with a focus on delivering value and quality.
