Building Supervisor – Cleaning & Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Building Supervisor to manage the day‑to‑day operation of a residential development in East London. You will ensure the building remains safe, well‑maintained and presented to a high standard while providing excellent service to residents and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspections of heating, plumbing, electrical and fire‑safety systems.
• Log and report maintenance issues, coordinating repairs via the helpdesk system.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests and escalate when necessary.
• Oversee cleanliness and presentation of communal areas and external spaces.
• Monitor waste management and maintain tidy surroundings.
• Maintain building security, including locks, alarms and CCTV systems.
• Support health‑and‑safety and fire‑safety procedures, responding to emergencies during working hours.
• Act as first point of contact for residents, visitors and contractors.
• Coordinate specialist contractors and assist with larger maintenance projects.
• Manage stock levels of cleaning supplies and basic maintenance materials.
• Keep accurate maintenance records and support building inspections and audits.

Required profile

• Previous experience in building supervision, facilities or property maintenance.
• Strong practical knowledge of building systems and maintenance processes.
• Proactive, hands‑on approach with good problem‑solving abilities.
• Confident communicator with residents, contractors and stakeholders.
• Well‑organised, reliable and able to work independently.
• Good understanding of health‑and‑safety and fire‑safety procedures.
