Building Surveyor – Alderley Edge

About the role

The Building Surveyor will join a leading property provider in Alderley Edge, delivering inspections, maintenance planning and project management across a portfolio of commercial and residential assets. This permanent position offers regular site visits and the chance to influence safety and quality standards throughout the North West region.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct property inspections to assess condition and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare detailed reports and maintenance schedules for each building.
• Manage refurbishment and renovation projects, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
• Provide technical advice on structures, materials and construction methods.
• Coordinate with contractors, clients and internal stakeholders to meet project requirements.
• Monitor building performance and recommend improvements.
• Ensure health and safety standards are maintained on all sites.
• Maintain accurate records of surveys, inspections and project progress.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of construction methods, building technology, regulations and legislation.
• At least five years’ experience in building surveying or a construction environment, preferably with maintenance projects.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and survey data.
• Excellent communication, analytical, problem‑solving and report‑writing skills.
• Highly organised with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Professional, client‑focused approach and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Familiarity with contract administration and project delivery processes.
• Degree, HNC or HND in Building Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Full UK driving licence; RICS membership or chartership pursuit and CSCS card are advantageous.
