Building Surveyor – Assistant (Embedded Estate & Consultancy Mix)

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Building Surveyor to join a boutique consultancy in the City of London. The role combines client‑side estate work for a prestigious London estate with traditional surveying consultancy across commercial, retail and residential projects.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver external decorations, planned maintenance and life‑cycle projects for a major London estate (≈50% of time).
• Act as embedded surveyor for the estate client, carrying out site inspections, managing contractors and reporting progress to senior management.
• Conduct pre‑acquisition surveys, defect analyses and produce schedules of condition and dilapidations reports for commercial and residential clients (≈50% of time).
• Support party‑wall instructions, contract administration and manage diverse surveying instructions across London.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months experience in a building surveying role.
• Strong technical knowledge of surveying, maintenance and acquisition processes.
• Excellent client‑facing communication and ability to work independently.
• Willingness to work full‑time from the office and attend site regularly.
• Chartered MRICS status or progression on the APC pathway (support provided).
