Business Development Executive

About the role

Join the Commercial team as a Business Development Executive, responsible for driving sales across air, sea and road import‑export opportunities. You will negotiate with customers, provide quotations and support new client onboarding while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate at all levels within the potential customer base.
• Prepare quotations, rate cards and conduct follow‑ups alongside Sales & Commercial teams.
• Make phone calls within agreed touch‑point timeframes and update Cargo Wise with discussion points.
• Organise meetings via Zoom, Teams or face‑to‑face based on client opportunity and trading history.
• Analyse reporting data such as profit, yield, drop‑off and quote activity; maintain a pipeline of opportunities for house accounts.
• Develop strong relationships with house‑account customers to meet sales targets.
• Identify and pursue AIR, SEA and ROAD import‑export opportunities, including upselling to existing clients.
• Support new customers through system set‑up and process understanding.
• Document meeting outcomes accurately in Cargo Wise and ensure weekly call summaries are up‑to‑date.
• Ensure all sales transactions comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including GDPR.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a commercial or sales environment.
• Strong negotiation skills across multiple customer levels.
• Familiarity with import‑export processes (air, sea, road).
• Ability to use Cargo Wise for documentation and pipeline management.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
• Awareness of compliance requirements such as GDPR.
