Business Development Manager – Capital Equipment & Manufacturing Machinery

About the role

Bennett & Game Recruitment is partnering with a well‑established engineering manufacturer in West Sussex to hire an experienced Business Development Manager. You will own the South‑East England and Ireland territories, driving sales of high‑quality manufacturing machinery and capital equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop the UK sales territory to exceed annual targets.
• Build, maintain and expand strong relationships with existing and new customers.
• Conduct on‑site visits to understand client operational needs and business objectives.
• Identify and qualify new business opportunities through lead generation and prospecting.
• Prepare quotations, sales proposals and technical presentations, and manage the full sales cycle to order placement.
• Collaborate with engineering, production and marketing teams and represent the company at trade exhibitions and industry events.

Required profile

• Proven record of achieving annual sales targets exceeding £1 million.
• Experience in packaging machinery, industrial machinery or engineering sales.
• Strong technical or engineering understanding and ability to communicate product value.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the territory.
• Experience with sales KPIs, forecasting and strategic sales planning.
