Business Development Manager

About the role

Join a well‑established waste management business as a Business Development Manager, driving new revenue and building lasting client relationships across the South West. Reporting to the Sales Manager, you will focus on identifying and converting fresh opportunities in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities.
• Build a strong pipeline through prospecting, networking and lead generation.
• Deliver engaging presentations and product demonstrations.
• Develop tailored proposals that clearly communicate value.
• Negotiate pricing and commercial terms while protecting profitability.
• Maintain accurate customer records, contracts and sales documentation.
• Prepare sales forecasts, activity updates and monthly reports.
• Share market insight with the wider team and consistently work towards sales targets.

Required profile

• Proven track record in sales or business development.
• Confident, proactive and results‑driven approach.
• Strong prospecting and new‑business generation abilities.
• Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Ability to build relationships with key decision‑makers.
• Strong organisation and time‑management capabilities.
• Determination, resilience and a genuine desire to succeed.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with CRM systems.
