Business Development Manager – Manufacturing

About the role

We are supporting a successful manufacturing business in Gloucester that is looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager. The role focuses on building long‑term, consultative relationships, identifying growth opportunities and delivering solutions that add real value to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities within target markets.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, consultants, contractors and decision‑makers.
• Generate and manage a healthy sales pipeline through networking, referrals, outbound activity and existing accounts.
• Qualify opportunities and provide consultative, solution‑led recommendations.
• Manage the full sales cycle from enquiry through quotation, negotiation and order completion.
• Develop strategic account plans to maximise customer value and long‑term relationships.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts and pipeline reporting.
• Drive repeat business and identify opportunities for additional services and future projects.
• Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions and networking opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to share market intelligence and customer insights.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development, consultative sales or account management.
• Outstanding communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Strong commercial mindset with a track record of identifying growth opportunities.
• Experience influencing and negotiating with senior decision‑makers.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
• Full UK driving licence.

• IT literacy.
