Business Development Manager – Ocean Freight (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead the growth of our Ocean Freight offering. Based in Colchester with hybrid working, you will combine office‑based planning with field visits to generate new revenue for a well‑established logistics provider.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and secure new Ocean Freight business opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with importers, exporters and logistics decision‑makers.
• Attend customer meetings, networking events and conduct field‑based business development.
• Prepare accurate quotations and commercial proposals.
• Manage a healthy sales pipeline and achieve revenue and gross‑profit targets.
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure high‑quality service delivery.
• Identify opportunities to cross‑sell additional logistics solutions.

Required profile

• Proven sales experience within freight forwarding or logistics.
• Strong knowledge of Ocean Freight services.
• Track record of winning new business and meeting targets.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Commercially driven and target‑focused mindset.
• Full UK driving licence.
